urine for most healthy, domestic species is sterile. Fecal matter can be an issue especially with carnivores. Always thoroughly wash your hands after coming in contact with it regardless of the animal. The danger to urine is of course the unpleasant odor if we don't keep the animals living quarters clean and health issues to the animals if we don't. Ammonia is a byproduct of urine and build ups can cause serious respiratory and liver disease in the animal as well as skin damage from constant wetness.
