Why does my Guinea Pig only poop near or around her food?

So I have read the guinea pigs will poop in their food bowls and at times eat it, but my question is why does my guinea pig only poop near her food? The side of the cage were her food is always has a lot of droppings and the other side where she sleeps never has any at all.
